BEUC
Historically, a few centralised power plants supplied society with the electricity it needed. This approach is being challenged as more and more small-scale units start generating their own electricity, from variable renewable energy sources. Demand-side flexibility encourages household consumers to shift their energy use to times of the day when there is more electricity available or reduce it temporarily when demand for electricity is high.
BEUC, consumer protection group responsible for defending the interests of European consumers needed a way of communicating this to consumers in a simple and effective way.
We created a series of typical consumer environments seen from the perspective of the consumer, with each one illustrating a different household situation where the consumer would be prompted to adjust their energy consumption behaviour, giving consumers more control over their energy usage and helping them understand how to make their household energy consumption more efficient during peak demand hours.
